Every year I try and take part in the do_action WordPress charity hackathon which sees teams of developers, designers, content managers and social media specialists group together to create websites for charity in one day. It’s always a fun and worthy event, and this year due to Covid-19 it was all done online. This came with its own challenges but the team communicated well on Slack and we were able to create a large, content-filled website for Have a Heart Sanctuary in Bonnievale complete with adoption processes, an online shop and recurring donations, albeit not in one day! This was very much a team effort. We used the Charitable plugin to manage recurring donations through PayFast, and both PayFast and Snapscan for shopping cart checkout. Have a Heart are doing truly wonderful work with horses, donkeys and other animals – providing them with a safety and care. Please consider making a donation: haveaheart.org.za/donate
